1964 Elaine Brockhouse Scrapbook, Pinecrest FL
. One of a series of annual scrapbooks kept by Elaine Brockhouse, 91-year-old niece of William D. Pawley, who initiated the formation of the famous American volunteer group of airmen known as the Flying Tigers who supported China in World War II from an aircraft manufacturing and supply base he organized in India. He was a confidant of Presidents Truman and Eisenhower and U.S. ambassador to Peru and Brazil after World War II. An avid Goldwater support, reference in this scrapbook includes two postcards he sent to Elaine Brockhouse's son from the 1964 Republican Convention. Message to Bruce Brockhouse from Aunt Edna and Uncle Bill stating: "This was a very historic week when we nominated Barry Goldwater as presidential candidate of the U.S.A. You will read about this in your history books some day." Also sample ballot with WCKT - Channel 7 stamp.
The scrapbook is 9 X 12 in. and very thick.
